Breaking News - More Yeast and Guaranteed Freshness

March 16, 2001 -- Brewers now have more fresh yeast strains available to them than ever before, thanks to a new program by White Labs Inc.

San Deigo based White Labs has increased its homebrew product line to a total of 35 yeast strains ˆ and all will be incredibly fresh. That is because if retail shops stock all 35 strains, White Labs will take back expired vials and give them new ones, with certain restrictions.

"Just because someone is not a professional brewer doesn't mean they have to put up with outdated ingredients," said Chris White, White Labs' president. "When they use White Lab products, they can feel assured that they are using the best and freshest yeast on the market."

With the new freshness program, shops have no reason not to stock all strains. And consumers have no reason not to try White Labs yeast. For retail shops, the innovative Freshness Assurance Program provides shops with the ability to stock all strains with little financial risk.

For consumers, the program's benefit is two-fold. Not only will they have access to incredibly fresh yeast, they also will be exposed to a whole new line of strains. White Labs Inc. recently increased the number of regular yeast strains it offers to homebrew stores, from 18 to 33. The two Platinum Series strains raises released every other month raises the total available strain count to 35.

Some of the new strains include California V (WLP051), Hefeweizen IV (WLP380), and American Lager Yeast (WLP840). The company is also offering favorites such as Saison (WLP565), English Cider (WLP775), and Belgian Abbey (WLP530).
