April 11, 2000 -- Homebrew supply and beer specialty store opened by beer guys Marty Nachel and Chris Grib
BEER GEAR, the Chicago area's newest homebrew supply shop and beer specialty store, is now open. Filling a void in the southwest suburbs, BEER GEAR will be serving the needs of homebrewers and beer lovers alike.
In addition to homebrew equipment and ingredients, BEER GEAR features beer books, beer glassware, bottle openers, beer wearables such as T-shirts and hats --something for everyone who loves beer.
BEER GEAR is the culmination of the efforts of partners Chris Grib and Marty Nachel, who together have over 20 years homebrewing experience and numerous brewing awards to their credit. Both Grib and Nachel are certified in beer evaluation, a service made available to their store customers. Nachel is also the author of three books on beer and brewing, including "Beer for Dummies" and "Homebrewing for Dummies".
