Breaking News - Hart Games Crown Many Winners
July 7, 2000 -- Fun, frolic, food, music and brew mark the Y2K edition of the Hart Games
Each year the cream of the Ottawa Valley hospitality business descend upon the Hart brewery in Carleton Place to take part in the annual Hart Games - the Olympics of the bar business. Finely tuned performers take part in a variety of skill tests, including Tray Racing, Hook and Slide and the feared Jelly Legs Memorial Keg Race. The competition was fierce (or not, as the case may be) and when the points are tallied, everyone was a winner.
Brewery founder Lorne Hart was on hand to cheer and cajole the competitors during the day and dance the legs off everyone in sight in the evening. The brewery rocked with great jamming from some of the top musicians in the Valley. Of course, the Hart brews flowed freely through the night.
When the time came for the big announcement of winners, a funny thing happened: Everyone received a prize. Through artful score keeping (and the happy coincidence that there were exactly the number of prize categories as teams) each team took home some nice Hart branded merchandise.
The Hart Games are a way to say “Thank You” to the servers of the Ottawa for keeping Hart in the minds, heart and tummies of local consumers.
