Breaking News - What's Tappening at Lunar Brewing Company?

June 12, 2000 -- Lunar's 100th brew is a special beer called Alpha Centauri

Brian "Bard of Brew" Gustafson has again been scouring Illinois for finer beverages. Here's his latest report.

In celebration of Lunar's 100th brew, owner/brewer Jules Roels cooked up a special beer called Alpha Centauri, which went on tap June 1st. It has been aged for 100 days, has an Original Gravity of 1.100, 100IBUs, and is 10% ABV. This is a BIG, BOLD, MEATY, CHEWY, AWESOME, BUTT-KICKING BREW. Go there and try some before it is all gone.

Also on tap is a Dunkel Weizen, a Bavarian wheat beer brewed with roasted wheat and dark caramel malts, Raspberry Cream Ale, made with real raspberries and a smidgen of vanilla, Kosmic Kolsch, a light, dry beer brewed with Noble hops, Moonbeam Steam, an Amber ale brewed with Northern Brewer hops, Brabant Ale, a Belgian single with mild bitterness and spicy Saaz hop flavor, and Jumping Cow Cream Ale, hopped like a lager with the fruitiness of an ale - made in the pre-prohibition style.

Coming soon will be the Darkside Dubbel, a malty sweet Belgian dubbel, and the Summer Solstice, a Belgian Wit beer spiced with orange peel and coriander. Lunar Brewing Company is located at 54 East. St. Charles Road in VIlla Park, and can be reached at 630-530-2077.
