Breaking News - Kick-off the 2001 Oregon Brewers Festival Weekend

July 4, 2001 -- Fred Eckhardt & Todd Mercer to visit the Rogue Ales Public House

A note from our friends at Rogue Nation:

In support of American Beer Month and to kick-off the 2001 Oregon Brewers Festival Rogue Ales Public House will host a Beer and Cheese Tasting with Fred Eckhardt and have Todd Mercer on site for a book signing.

Fred Eckhardt best known for his Beer and Chocolate tastings is branching out to hold a Beer and Cheese tasting starting at 8pm on July 25th at the Rogue Ales Public House in Portland. Fred will match the beers and cheeses and provide an evening of fun that is both educational and economical for a cost of $10 per participant. Fred, who lives and writes in Portland, is the author of The Essentials of Beer Style and The Essentials of Sake and writes articles and editorials for many of the Industries publications.

Todd Bryant Mercer will also be at the Public House to sign copies of his book, Bike & Brew America: The Rocky Mountain Region, in which he pairs the best mountain biking trails with the nearest brewpubs. Todd has ridden over hills and on the trails in his book and tasted all the beers at the brewpubs he recommends. Todd will make it possible for travelers to grab a copy of his book and know where the best trails and ales are in the region they are visiting. A great book for beer and bike enthusiasts.

Rogue Ales Public House is located in the Historic Brewing District of Downtown Portland on the corner of 14th and NW Flanders. Opening at 11am, the brewpub phone number is (503) 222-5910 (advanced tickets available and walk-ins welcomed), or please call (503) 241-3605 for more information on the events.

Celebrating its second century, Rogue Ales is an Artisan Varietal Producer founded in Oregon in 1988 and is one of America’s first 50 micro-breweries. Its distinctive ales have been designated as the Best in the World 7 times by the World Beer Championships and have won over 170 awards, including 12 Great American Beer Festival medals; over 70 World Beer Championship awards; 6 International Beer Summit Medals; Northwest’s Best Brewery of the year two years in a row; and the Russell Schehrer Award for Innovation in Brewing.
