Lakefront Brewing Produces Last Seasonal
April, 1998Those who have loved the seasonal offerings of Lakefront Brewery were sad to hear that December 31, 1997 marked the date of their last seasonal produced at 818A East Chambers. This new seasonal, a "Mardi Gras" beer to be released early February, is full of malt flavors. According to Russ Klisch, "This beer was designed for the festive mood. When you think of Mardi Gras, you think of consumption, so the emphasis is on malt. Filled with Biscuit, Centennial, and Munich malts we wanted something uniquely different."
Mardi Gras has followed a long line of other seasonals produced at the Chambers facility. That line has included this past year's release of a Barley Wine, the ever fabulous Pumpkin Ale, Cherry Beer, Bock Beer, and their famous Holiday Spice (rocket fuel).
Production of seasonals will resume after Lakefront moves to their new facility in early March. The new brewery located on the north end of the Riverwalk will once again produce a Brewery district for Milwaukee. With Water Street Brewery, just off the river, Rock Bottom, a soon to be opened Wynkoop, and The Milwaukee Ale House, downtown will become the place for beer once again. One can't wait to have barrel raft races down the river in the near future starting at Lakefront and ending at the Ale House with room for three pit stops. Boy, that Water Taxi will be kept busy.
