MI Brewers Guild Winter Conference
April, 1999The Michigan Brewers Guild (MBG) recently held their first annual Winter Conference at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Highlights of the Conference included presentations by a representative of the Liquor Control bureaucracy and a roundtable session featuring Gary Galanis, President of Brewers' Association of America,
The Friday night pre-conference Pub Crawl was marked at each stop by groups of brewers who chanted loudly in unison, "Drink Michigan Beer!" and then proceded to do so.
Saturday night's festivities included a marvelous dinner prepared by the hotel's chef who paired a different style of Michigan beer with each succulent course. After dinner enlightenment came from Beer Notes founder Mike Urseth, who regaled the brewers with his unique perspective on the state of the craft brewing industry, combined with a little humor.
Congratulations to Guild President Larry Bell and organizers Mary and Rex Halfpenny for a job well done.
