general manager
Egan Brewing Company, De Pere, Wisconsin, has hired Tim Hall as the new General Manager for the restaurant. He brings over 18 years of full-service restaurant management experience. Tim and his family moved to Wisconsin from North Dakota in 1985 with the opening of Sergio's Mexican Restaurant in Green Bay.
Egan Brewing Company, established in 1996, offers the Fox Valley's largest selection of handcrafted beers and sodas. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, and for dinner on Saturday and Sunday.

Tapped for April 30th
Great news! It's once again time for the 9th Greater Springfield International Beer Festival, April 30th from 5pm to 11 pm. This is a great opportunity to sample over 100 imports and micro beers for just pennies an ounce.
Located at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield Illinois (I-55 exit 100B), several thousand beer enthusiasts from the Midwest will be the first to sample "Seasonals" from Goose Island, Sierra Nevada, Grolsch, and Woodchuck as well as dozens of tasty Ales, Bocks and other brews from across America and around the world. Brewbakers, a unique combination bakery/microbrewery in Ann Arbor, Michigan has apparently closed its doors. Reports are sketchy at press time. Look for further information in future issues of Beer Notes.
Tod Fyten Signs
Lease For Brewery
Long-time Beer Notes advertising consultant, Tod Fyten, is about to realize his brewing dream. He's signed lease papers on space for his long-anticipated microbrewery in St. Paul, Minnesota. Tod will continue with Beer Notes in an advisory capacity and has promised an occasional story from his beer travels.

Bill Urseth Is Beer
Notes New President
Beer Notes announces the installation of Bill Urseth, of Minneapolis, Minnesota as President. Bill has extensive background in marketing and advertising and has been involved in the craft brewing industry for quite some time. He was an early investor in the Summit Brewing Company of St. Paul, Minnesota. He founded Upland Global Corporation, a publicly-traded Canadian company, which has purchased the Hart Brewing Company of Ottawa and Le Chaudron Brewing of Montreal, and is aggressively marketing their products in the local markets. As President of Beer Notes, Inc., Bill Urseth brings years of business experience, access to financial resources and a lifetime of marketing savvy to Beer Notes. Bill is Mike's first cousin.
Point Beer Brands Post Double-Digit Growth In 1998
The Stevens Point Brewery posted an 11% increase for its proprietary Point Beer brands in 1998. The increase is for the six Point Beer products, including flagship brand Point Special, which registered its strongest growth in the past five years.
