Widmer's Seasonal Sommerbräu - Back By Popular Demand

April, 1999

In what's quickly becoming a summer tradition, Widmer Brothers Brewery, the first craft brewery to introduce seasonal biers to America is once again bottling up a cool alternative to the summer heat. Scheduled for roll-out on May 3, 1999, Widmer's summer seasonal, Sommerbräu is an authentic German style Kšlsch bier, patterned after the original recipes first developed in Cologne, Germany.

"Last year we wanted to brew a bier that fulfilled summertime expectations; to quench one's thirst and compliment lighter appetites," says Kurt Widmer, president of Widmer Brothers Brewery. "Sommerbräu greatly exceeded those expectations, in taste and sales, so we've brought it back for a repeat performance.'

Made with Two Row Barley Malt, Malted Wheat, and Spalter Select Hops, this top fermented, cold conditioned bier is characterized by its fight body, delicate flavor and golden color. Sommerbräu is crisp, refreshing, and slightly dry with a hint of hop flavor and aroma.
